Labradorite / One of One
Shaped around the stone.
A stone of shifting light.
Every labradorite reveals its own flashes of color. Its proportions, surface, and changing light guide the design from the beginning.
Carved for one stone.
I develop and carve each setting in wax by hand, working around the individual stone. The gold takes its form from the labradorite it will hold.
Made to remain.
The wax carving is cast in solid gold. Local artisans complete the stone setting and polishing, bringing the piece to its finished form.
The Gemstone Archive
Light held within stone.
At first glance, labradorite can appear almost still, its surface a quiet shade of gray or green. Turn it toward the light, and brilliant flashes of blue, gold, and green emerge from within. The phenomenon, known as labradorescence, is created by light interacting with microscopic layers inside the mineral.
Formed over immense spans of geological time, labradorite carries a remarkable optical structure. Its shifting colors have inspired stories of the Northern Lights, while its distinctive appearance has made it a compelling stone for adornment. No two specimens reveal their colors in quite the same way.
Care & Keeping
Made to last.
Carried with care.
Solid gold is enduring, while labradorite benefits from gentler handling. A few considered habits will help protect the stone and its setting over time.
Everyday Wear
Protect labradorite from direct impact, pressure, and abrasion against hard surfaces. Remove your jewelry before exercise, heavy lifting, gardening, or household work.
Cleaning Your Piece
Gently clean with lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth. Avoid prolonged soaking and dry thoroughly. Do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaners, abrasive products, or harsh cleaning solutions.
Water & Personal Products
Remove your jewelry before showering, swimming, or entering hot tubs. Apply perfume, lotion, hairspray, and other personal products before putting on your piece.
Storage
Store your jewelry in a soft pouch or lined compartment, separated from harder gemstones and other pieces that could scratch the labradorite or gold.
